  • Description
At auction, a historic villa in Verona called "La Mattarana", for exclusive ceremonies and events.

The villa at auction from the 1400s is characterized by its majestic frescoed halls, two large barchesse, a Church-Oratory, a central courtyard, and a park. With a total area of 13,994 sqm.

The asset is located in a strategic position just 6 km from the center of Verona (10 minutes by car) and from the Verona-Est motorway exit. The area is located south of the village of Montorio Veronese, a tourist destination known for the ancient remains of the Medieval Castle.

The historical-architectural complex from the 1400s represents an exclusive location for hosting events of all kinds: weddings, ceremonies, corporate and private events, gala dinners, exhibitions, and concerts. Thanks to its splendid internal halls, with prestigious frescoes by Bernardino India, a collaborator of Andrea Palladio and the workshop of Jacopo Ligozzi, the villa at auction is also an ideal place for film sets.
The area of the villa is 3900 sqm, with an extension of external spaces, including both the courtyard at the center of the Villa and the park to the South, of 13,994 square meters, approximately 1.4 hectares.

The layout of the historical-architectural complex is centered around a courtyard, surrounded on the sides by the building bodies, according to the typical scheme of a Venetian villa.
At the center of the main body rises a core on three above-ground levels, with typical central halls passing through the ground and first floors and side rooms of symmetrical dimensions. On the ground floor, facing the central courtyard, there is a portico preceded by three full-arch arcades, resting on stone columns. This core is topped in the center by a tower with a sloped roof.
The lateral portions of the main body develop on two levels: on the ground floor, facing South, there are the majestic halls with frescoes from the 1500s. Among these, noteworthy is the Hall of the Emperors, whose frescoed ceiling is by Bernardino India. The two symmetrical porticos overlook the internal courtyard and are supported by arcades resting on Veronese stone columns, with entasis and simplified Doric-style capitals.
On the first level there are large living spaces, with the internal slopes of the roof visible.
At the East and West ends, there are the two dovecotes that rise two additional levels above the adjacent structure, surpassing the central tower in size.
The ancient cellar represents a peculiar element of the villa at auction, with a prominent monumental aspect and accessible via a staircase inside the central core.
Two initial rooms develop beneath the central hall. A large hall, with a vaulted ceiling, is reached via another gentle staircase, arched in a barrel shape.

Two important barchesse, arranged orthogonally to the central body, embrace the courtyard on the East and West sides. Both have large arches resting on hewn stone pillars. The two barchesse and the frescoed halls of the central body constitute a set of high-quality environments. Thanks to their dimensions, they are ideal for hosting meetings, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, and much more.
In particular, the two barchesse, with their unique, enclosed, and air-conditioned environments, represent a rare example in the landscape of Venetian villas.
Another element that distinguishes the historic villa at auction is the former stable, located in the West part: it is a large vaulted hall with pendentives and can accommodate up to 70 seated people.
The porter's lodge, positioned towards the central access gate, is arranged on two levels and is also suitable as a residence.

The Church - Oratory of the historical complex is located to the East, with a slender bell tower, consisting of a single hall with frescoed walls and decorated sloped roof beams. The church is also accessible directly from the public road, via a portal. To the east of the oratory, there is a portion of the architectural complex, with a workshop and an upper area designated for housing.
Further East of the main body is a large additional barn, now used as a warehouse and with suitable spaces for temporary kitchens and catering. Nearby is another living area on two levels, overlooking the park to the South.

The central courtyard with gravel ground is defined by flower beds and hedges typical of the Italian garden.

Two magnificent centuries-old cedars close, towards the church and the stable, the courtyard of the villa at auction.
